Diploma Awarding Bodies (DABs)
The role of Diploma Awarding Bodies in summer 2009 is to help centres and consortia to understand the operational arrangements and processes of the Diploma in relation to the DAB's line of learning
DABs award and certificate whole Diploma qualifications for the lines of learning for which they are recognised.
Once the centre has signed up with the DAB for a specific line of learning, the DAB will offer support to the centre in the ways outlined below. This support is a minimum level that will be offered by all DABs.
DABs support centres by:
- providing advice, guidance and support to centres on Diploma administration through their normal channels of support to enhance centres' understanding of what they need to do to deliver key Diploma processes. This includes:
i) generic advice via their website
ii) suitably informed customer service personnel
iii) training and support
iv) individual support if required
- collecting information from the centre, including details of Learner Study plans for learners completing in 2009. This allows the DAB to:
i) jointly review progress against the plan, including qualifications taken with CABs
ii) track progress towards completion of key Diploma processes via DAS and LRS
iii) work with QCA to confirm that all intended combinations will be processed via DAS
- supporting centres in identifying and resolving missing results data. This includes advising centres to:
i) check that entries for all constituent qualifications have been made and that results are due in time for a Diploma award to be made
ii) check that PLTS and Work Experience have been recorded on DAS
iii) identify where CABs may need to post any missing results onto DAS and allow the centre to resolve this directly with the CAB. The DAB may offer to facilitate the resolution though the centre remains responsible for ensuring their CAB completes any results posting.
