Learning centres
The role of centres in 2009 is to ensure learners receive accurate and timely Diploma awards
The QCA Centre Support Team, CABs and DABs will support centres to fulfil their role as set out elsewhere in this guidance. The QCA Centre Support Team offers support until centres have selected CABs for constituent qualifications that contribute to a Diploma, and DABs for specific lines of learning. After these decisions have been made, centres should seek support from their selected CABs and DABs with regard to Diploma products, operational procedures and
commercial arrangements. Generic advice about Diplomas, the Diploma aggregation service etc. can still be obtained from QCA.
The centre's role is to:
- Ensure it is organised to deliver the administrative tasks required within the Diploma, identifying which named individuals are responsible for specific tasks set out below, and then liaising as appropriate with relevant organisations, including other centres in the consortia, CABs and DABs
- Ensure the learner has a valid combination of qualifications to obtain a Diploma
- Identify key dates and deadlines for administrative tasks on selected qualifications
- Liaise with the Learner Registration Service to:
i) Obtain unique learner numbers (ULNs) for their learners
ii) Make sure that a learner only has one ULN
iii) Make sure that other centres in their consortia, CABs and DABs use the right ULN for each learner
- Use the Diploma aggregation service to:
i) Set up a learner account for their learners, making sure that each learner has only one account
ii) Input PLTS and work experience
iii) Monitor results being input (use DAS status reports) and chase any missing results with relevant CABs
iv) Set an intention to claim
- Liaise with CABs to:
i) Ensure qualification results are entered on DAS within 10 days of awarding
ii) Enquire about missing qualification results if necessary
iii) Capture prior learning and ensure it is entered on DAS eg. GCSE achievement for Higher diploma candidates
- Liaise with DABs to:
i) Confirm the necessary administrative tasks have been completed
ii) Obtain final results on publication day
