Entry Level
NCFE’s Entry Level qualifications are suitable for learners wanting to improve their literacy, numeracy, ICT or personal skills and potentially progress to Level 1 qualifications.
The qualifications are designed to be delivered in a context relevant to the learner.
NCFE’s Entry Level portfolio includes Basic Skills qualifications and qualifications designed to provide progression on to the Wider Key Skills qualifications:
- Entry Level Certificate in Adult Literacy (including Spoken Communication)
- Entry Level Certificate in Adult Numeracy
- Entry Level Certificate in ICT
- Entry Level Certificate in Making Progress
- Entry Level Certificate in Solving Problems
- Entry Level Certificate in Working Together
NCFE's Entry Level qualifications are assessed via a portfolio of evidence which is internally assessed and moderated, and externally moderated.

- Ideal qualifications for adults wishing to develop essential, transferable skills
- Each qualification can be achieved at Entry 1, Entry 2 or Entry 3
- Learning can be put in the context of a range of everyday situations
- Use of contextualised assessment allows candidates to achieve through familiar activities
- No set guided learning hours to allow the courses to fit candidates requirements
- Centres do not have to register their candidates onto a level – only onto the overall qualification
- Centres can allow candidates to rework and resubmit work before External Moderator visit in order to allow candidates to achieve at a higher level
- Certificates are issued at a specific level
- Progression route onto Wider Key Skills, Key & Basic Skills or any other Level 1 Vocational Qualification
